Broadness cottage offers Lake District walkers the ability to leave their cars at the property and head out on to the Skiddaw mountain range (pictured above). Skiddaw is one of the highest fells inn England and commands incredible Lakeland views over Bassenthwaite, Borrowdale, Newlands and Keswick. The walking route from Bassenthwaite is both picturesque and peaceful being well away from the main busy route over Latrigg from Keswick. Other nearby mountain walks include Blencathra, Helvellyn, the Borrowdale fells, Coledale Horseshoe at Braithwaite and many more. You will find that most of the Northern fells are within a short drive. The Lake District has a variety of walks for all abilities - from popular fell walks over the famous Lakeland fells to more relaxing, less strenuous walks around the lakes and villages of Cumbria. Broadness cottage is within close proximity to many of the stunning Lake District lakes - Bassenthwaite Lake (150 yards), Derwentwater (5 miles), Thirlmere (8 miles), Buttermere (11 miles), Crummock Water (13 miles). All the lakes have good accessibility and parking and all have featured walks which are relatively easy. Broadness Farm have grounds which run down to the edge of Bassenthwaite Lake therefore visitors to the cottage are invited to walk down to the lake shore and enjoy the stunning views. The local Whinlatter Ospreys, which visit Whinlatter forest annually, often fly and feed over Bassenthwaite Lake. |
